The religious leader of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Mirza Masroor Ahmad is set to arrive in Canada on October 3rd as the community marks 50 years in Canada. This will be his 4th trip to Canada since being elected Caliph in 2003.
On Monday thousands will gather at Ahmadiyya ave in Toronto to welcome the ‘Khalifa of Islam‘. The Caliph will be welcomed by Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, John McCallum. His Canadian tour will commence with Jalsa Salana Canada, the largest and longest-running Islamic convention in the country. The Caliph will be the keynote speaker at the convention. More than 25,000 people from over a dozen countries are expected to attend the unique three-day event.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Canada’s spokesperson Safwan Choudhry said:
“Members of the community are working around the clock in preparation for the Caliph’s visit, as they anxiously await the arrival of their spiritual leader.”
The Caliph has given lectures at Capitol Hill, the U.K. House of Parliament and the European Parliament, where he advocated for universal human rights, religious freedom, and fair international relations.
His six-week long itinerary includes a tour of western Canada and Ottawa. He is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim sect is considered to be the fastest growing Islamic sect in the world, with over 80 chapters in Canada alone.
