Humanity First a humanitarian organization set up by Ahmadiyya Muslim Community during the Bosnian war has just opened its first school in MAFRAQ, JORDAN, It works as a neutral Humanitarian agency. Currently there are 75 Syrian Refugee children and 25 Jordanian children in the school.
Rafiq A. Tschannen Humanity First’s country director for Jordan said:
“We are starting this school in Kindergarten level and will carry it on next year with grade one.”
“When selecting the children we found that many children that should be in school have been unable to enroll. Consequently, if we manage to obtain sufficient funding, we would like to add another 100 students in grade 1, 2 and 3 of Primary School.”
“All children have been provided with uniforms, school bags, books and writing materials as well.”
According to United Nations figures there are more than 680’000 Syrian refugees in Jordan. Out of these there are 180’000 Children of school going age. Only approx. 100’000 have been admitted in Jordanian and UN schools.
Senator Sheikh Talal Al Madi and Member of Parliament Sheikh Miteb al Jaloobi of the Mafraq Governorate assisted in the Opening Ceremony of the School.
In the next coming days Humanity First will also open a Grade 12 school in Amman, Jordan. Aim of the school will be to assist the Syrian refugee students to pass the Jordanian final school examination which will enable them to get admitted in any University worldwide upon graduation.
