USA’s largest and oldest Muslim community has condemned the nightclub shooting in Orlando which left 50 dead. 29-year-old shooter Omar Mir Seddique Mateen, took hostages and opened fire inside an Orlando nightclub at around 2 a.m. Sunday. The shooter died following a shootout with SWAT officers. The FBI is looking into whether this was an act of international or domestic terrorism.
In a statement the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community condemned the ‘senseless’ shooting and urged people to remain clam.
“This is really tragic and sad,” said Dr. Nasim Rehmatullah, National Vice President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, “Reverence for all human life is the essence of Islamic teaching. This is a time for prayers and efforts to stop such senseless violence in our nation.”

The Miami branch of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has also announced that it will hold a prayer vigil for the victims.
