Part of The Sahiwal Road which connects outskirts of Rabwah (Chanian) to the town centre had been under construction for a few years now but due to the lack of attention and funding by the local establishment the project had remained dormant.
The construction got back on track in the last few months and was completed this week but it’s still yet unknown how much this piece of road which is barely a Kilometre long and less than 10 ft wide cost the tax payer.
On a side note 2011 elections are just a few months’ away and local councillors and MPA’s seem to have already embarked on their re-election bid.
Constituency of Chanian is the only locality where they can expect support in the form of votes. Majority of the town’s Ahmadi population is unable to vote because in order to do so they have to denounce their faith.
The local Ahmadis claim they pay taxes likes everyone else but are shunned by their own government and a town with a population of over 65,000 it means a lot.
